Goodbye Tita Cory!

August 1, 2009 at 3:18am at Makati Medical Center, was a very faithful day for Mrs. Corazon Aquino. She left the real world after for one year and 5 months suffering from cardiopulmonary arrest after complications of colon cancer.

Maria Corazon "Cory" Cojuangco Aquino was the former president of the Philippines and a world-renowned advocate of democracy, peace, women's empowerment, and religious piety. She served as the 11th president of the Philippines from 1986 to 1992. She was the first female president of the Philippines and was Asia's first female president. She was married to late Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr.,a leading figure in the political opposition against the autocratic rule of President Ferdinand Marcos.

Aquino's body lies at a public wake at the St. Benilde Gymnasium of La Salle Greenhills in Mandaluyong up to August 3 when it would be transferred to the Manila Cathedral; the final rites will be done on August 5 which was declared as a special nonworking holiday by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Aquino will be buried in Manila Memorial Park inParaƱaque.

May you rest in peace Tita Cory. All your good deeds will remain to heart and soul of the Filipino people.
